Summary

Speedfest XIV featured two aircraft competition classes:

Alpha Class:   Collegiate-level Class where teams designed a high-speed internal combustion powered racing plane capable of smoke visualization.

India Class:   Middle / high school level Class where teams start with a "Speed Deamon" electric-powered pylon racer kit, and  may modify the designs for top speed in pylon racing.

The Speedfest main event was held on April 25-26, 2025.   Friday was early technical inspection, flight test, registration, and a "cookout" for the teams.  Due to threat of weather on Saturday, the flight line was opened for Alpha teams to perform scoring runs.  Both teams had 2 opportunities to fly friday, and 1 more on Saturday.  Heavy rain accompanied with unforecasted lightning resulted in calling the event just after noon.    Alpha teams were able to complete at least 3 scoring rounds, however India teams were only able to compete in a single round of 7 heats.

Participation and Attendance

Speedfest XIV set a record for overall number of teams and students involved:  In addition to the two Alpha Class teams 36 India-class teams competed with their aircraft.
